Today’s post will be short but sweet. I wanted to take a moment to congratulate my father, as well as the entire McKinney and Doyle family on celebrating the business’ 30-year anniversary this month. Last Sunday, May 8 marked three decades of early mornings, late nights, shared celebrations, working holidays, and devotion to the Pawling community and beyond for M&D and I couldn’t be more proud and honored to be even just a small part of this legacy.
Thirty years ago, in 1986, my parents, my godfather (Brian Doyle), close family and friends, and numerous members of the Pawling community worked together to open The Corner Bakery on East Main Street. New baby in tow, both my mom and dad put blood, sweat, and tears in alongside those willing to help them build this dream with no guarantee of where the venture would take them. Starting a new business is scary, exhausting, and risky to say the least. It is with sheer joy that we all celebrated this anniversary with not just a busy weekend, but a record breaking weekend over Mother’s Day this year.
There are no words the express the gratitude and the love that my family has for the amazing staff at McKinney and Doyle in both the bakery and the restaurant as well as for the community that has supported the business for so many years.
To the M&D family: THANK YOU for your long hours, your tired feet, your weekends, your smiles, your ideas, and your love.
To our beloved community and customers who have become family: THANK YOU for your loyalty, your feedback, your service, and your willingness to share your important moments and celebrations with all of us.
In honor of the anniversary, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Read our story in the two posts below and then share your favorite M&D memory with us in the comments!

I wanted to create this blog for a few reasons. First and foremost, to share tips, tricks, and knowledge about the food and beverage industry in general but also to help people see a different side of the restaurant world. Every restaurant has a totally unique culture and world within it. I want to help open people’s eyes to more than how fast the service is or how easy or hard it is to secure a reservation.
So, thanks for stopping by! I welcome your ideas, input, and feedback and hope you enjoy!
Eat well & travel often,
Becky McKinney
