Why Food Makes the Best Gift for a New Mom

And how M&D can help you become new mom’s BFF.

When I had my first son, I was so grateful for how much love our friends and family showered us in (from afar because Owen was born about 5 seconds before the world shut down with you know what). I was also overwhelmed with the amount of STUFF we received. Clothes, books, toys, blankets, you name it … Owen received more gifts than I could have ever anticipated. And while we appreciated (and still appreciate) every single thing … the BEST gifts were also the most helpful for our family during a time of chaos, recovery, and the unknown.

Food.

Cooking felt like such a gigantic task. Ordering takeout got old very quickly, not to mention expensive. When friends and family made us a meal or dropped off a meal, it felt like a huge weight off of our shoulders.

Since then, I have made it a point to bring meals over to my friends when they come home with a new baby, whether its their first child or fifth.

Not a cook? Not a problem. M&D is here to help.

You can always purchase hot meals to go from the restaurant, whether you want to drop off a weekend brunch, or mid week lunch or dinner. Our menu is available to go for pickup.

Want to take things next level? Swing by the bakery and peruse the bakery deli case. There are always fresh salads and snacks as well as freezer friendly soups, stews, and breads.

Note how I said “freezer friendly?” There is nothing more handy than a meal that is ready to go and waiting in your freezer for a hectic night when the energy to cook just isn’t there.

Rebecca McKinney

I was born a foodie. My dad is a chef, baker, and restaurant owner and my mom might as well be because she owns whatever kitchen she walks into. I grew up working in my family’s restaurant and bakery in Pawling, New York – McKinney and Doyle. I started behind the bakery counter at 12 years old after begging my parents to let me start working. At 16 I worked as a hostess. By 18 I was serving tables and training behind the bar where I then worked every other weekend throughout my college career. Even now, when I am visiting my family in New York, I help out where I’m needed. To make a long story short, the food and restaurant industry has been my life for as long as I can remember.

I wanted to create this blog for a few reasons. First and foremost, to share tips, tricks, and knowledge about the food and beverage industry in general but also to help people see a different side of the restaurant world. Every restaurant has a totally unique culture and world within it. I want to help open people’s eyes to more than how fast the service is or how easy or hard it is to secure a reservation.

So, thanks for stopping by! I welcome your ideas, input, and feedback and hope you enjoy!

Eat well & travel often,

Becky McKinney
