I apologize if I’m going a little over board with the wedding planning posts but at least you all know exactly where my head is! good tidingsToday’s post is actually kind of a combination of wedding planning and local business love so give me some credit, okay? Over the holidays I went into detail about M&D’s next door neighbor, Good Tidings. With quality gifts and unique finds, it’s a great one-stop shop for either a gift for someone else or a personal accessory. And now, it’s also a great resource for brides!

My favorite part of wedding planning so far has been thinking of the fun little gift ideas that I can give to my bridal party. How do I ask them? What will I give them as a thank you? I also really love the creative design type stuff like save the dates and invitations. I am so thankful that Sherrie from Good Tidings sent me a text with some photos of the new wedding items that the store carries because everything is just so beautiful and sweet! So for my local New York brides, let me introduce you to some fabulous ideas.robes

I absolutely love the idea of matching robes for the bridal party to get ready in the morning of the wedding. It’s a beautiful gift that can be enjoyed for years after your wedding and Good Tidings offers cottonsuch a wide variety and selection with optional personal touches! Robes come in cotton, satin, and jersey material and can be floral paisley or solid in color. I LOVE the sleeves on that solid one, how cute is that? The robes can also be monogrammed OR if you like the robes without a monogram but want to personalize it for each bridesmaid, you can have the bag that it comes in bridal party robespersonalized instead. I think these are a super cute gift idea for the mamas involved in your wedding too! It’s a big day for the mother of the bride and mother of the satingroom too you know!

Sherrie also told me that brides have the ability to order initial monogrammed sheer shawls, which are a great gift idea as well and can be enjoyed the entire day. Party on, party people.

Lastly, I was thrilled to find out that Good Tidings also offers engraved wedding invitations! Seriously, who knew that you could find so many important wedding details in the teeny tiny town of Pawling?

I am heading up to New York for a few weeks in April and cannot wait to go check out these goodies in person. But for now, I’ll just fawn over the photos that Sherrie sent me. If you get a chance to pop in yourself, please let me know your thoughts in the comments! Besides, even if you’re not planning a wedding, a beautiful robe or shawl is always a nice addition to your closet.

Rebecca McKinney

I was born a foodie. My dad is a chef, baker, and restaurant owner and my mom might as well be because she owns whatever kitchen she walks into. I grew up working in my family’s restaurant and bakery in Pawling, New York – McKinney and Doyle. I started behind the bakery counter at 12 years old after begging my parents to let me start working. At 16 I worked as a hostess. By 18 I was serving tables and training behind the bar where I then worked every other weekend throughout my college career. Even now, when I am visiting my family in New York, I help out where I’m needed. To make a long story short, the food and restaurant industry has been my life for as long as I can remember.

I wanted to create this blog for a few reasons. First and foremost, to share tips, tricks, and knowledge about the food and beverage industry in general but also to help people see a different side of the restaurant world. Every restaurant has a totally unique culture and world within it. I want to help open people’s eyes to more than how fast the service is or how easy or hard it is to secure a reservation.

So, thanks for stopping by! I welcome your ideas, input, and feedback and hope you enjoy!

Eat well & travel often,

Becky McKinney
