How To Pick Wine For Your Picnic

Now that the longest winter of all time seems to have truly left the building, it’s time to embrace the sun and all of the warm weather activities that go along with it. Of course, you all know that I don’t think there is anything better than dining out, especially if it means a Picnicvisit to M&D. However, we all know that sometimes, that just isn’t possible, like on Monday’s, when the restaurant is closed. In the spring and summer months, Pawling also has some beautiful parks that are just begging for a picnic and so I am also a big fan of helping you plan one.

Whether you grab takeout from the cafe, snacks from the bakery or whip up your own picnic lunch at home, NO picnic is complete with some adult beverages. And if Andrew isn’t available to give you a wine recommendation, you can default to this fun quiz for some help.
I should note that, while we had some great feedback from readers on the last BuzzFeed quiz we shared, I still think talking to Andrew or any professional will lead you to a better recommendation. But this is a blog and is meant to both educate and entertain. Today, I hope this entertains you.
What wine should you pack??
I got Friulano – a light, fragrant white with flavors of apricot, honey & almond. Sounds pretty good to me!

Rebecca McKinney

I was born a foodie. My dad is a chef, baker, and restaurant owner and my mom might as well be because she owns whatever kitchen she walks into. I grew up working in my family’s restaurant and bakery in Pawling, New York – McKinney and Doyle. I started behind the bakery counter at 12 years old after begging my parents to let me start working. At 16 I worked as a hostess. By 18 I was serving tables and training behind the bar where I then worked every other weekend throughout my college career. Even now, when I am visiting my family in New York, I help out where I’m needed. To make a long story short, the food and restaurant industry has been my life for as long as I can remember.

I wanted to create this blog for a few reasons. First and foremost, to share tips, tricks, and knowledge about the food and beverage industry in general but also to help people see a different side of the restaurant world. Every restaurant has a totally unique culture and world within it. I want to help open people’s eyes to more than how fast the service is or how easy or hard it is to secure a reservation.

So, thanks for stopping by! I welcome your ideas, input, and feedback and hope you enjoy!

Eat well & travel often,

Becky McKinney
