Happy New Year, friends! I hope you all had a beautiful holiday season. I know we did! We are so grateful for another wonderful year serving you all. It’s been an honor and a pleasure to say the least. I’m excited to share this fun post with you today reflecting over the most popular items from 2019.

Andrew sent me a list of some of our top selling items in different categories from the last 12 months and I had a blast reading them over. Take a look!

Top Desserts of 2019:

  • Our number one dessert for 2019 was Pain in the Butt Cake – layers of chocolate cake stuffed with snickers, heath bars, and peanut butter…coated in Belgian chocolate and then served warm.
  • Although we did not offer creme brulee regularly throughout the year, the overall numbers were very high. Looks like there is something to be said about classic simplicity!

The Top Five Classic Cocktails for 2019 were:

  • Margarita
  • Old Fashioned
  • M&D Espresso Martini
  • Bees Knees
  • Paloma

Top 5 Signature Cocktails for 2019:

  • Spiced Mango
  • Bitter Truth
  • Bulletproof
  • Shakin Maracas
  • Siren Call

It seems that spice is popular for our customers, followed closely by citrus forward and layers of flavors in cocktails. Good to know!

Most Popular [New] Wine by the Glass was:

The Gamay Noir from Te Mata in New Zealand. We noticed that our guests are open to trying new styles of wine, when compared to a known varietal. We like to see that!

Most Popular Appetizers for 2019:

Avocado Egg Rolls (not surprising) … followed by the Perfect Little Filet (that fig sauce is hard to beat) and the Ahi Tuna Two Way. We like these too!

Top Five Entrees of 2019:

  • Coulette Steak
  • Wagyu Burger
  • Lobster Risotto
  • Shellfish Pasta
  • Salmon

Top Five Brunch Items of 2019:

  • Smokehouse Omelet
  • Corned Beef Hash
  • Chicken & Waffles
  • Asparagus Omelet
  • Huevos Campecinos

Are you surprised by any of these winners? Did any of YOUR favorites make the list?

Rebecca McKinney

I was born a foodie. My dad is a chef, baker, and restaurant owner and my mom might as well be because she owns whatever kitchen she walks into. I grew up working in my family’s restaurant and bakery in Pawling, New York – McKinney and Doyle. I started behind the bakery counter at 12 years old after begging my parents to let me start working. At 16 I worked as a hostess. By 18 I was serving tables and training behind the bar where I then worked every other weekend throughout my college career. Even now, when I am visiting my family in New York, I help out where I’m needed. To make a long story short, the food and restaurant industry has been my life for as long as I can remember.

I wanted to create this blog for a few reasons. First and foremost, to share tips, tricks, and knowledge about the food and beverage industry in general but also to help people see a different side of the restaurant world. Every restaurant has a totally unique culture and world within it. I want to help open people’s eyes to more than how fast the service is or how easy or hard it is to secure a reservation.

So, thanks for stopping by! I welcome your ideas, input, and feedback and hope you enjoy!

Eat well & travel often,

Becky McKinney
