Many of you know that I run the McKinney and Doyle Instagram account (www.instagram.com/mckinneyanddoyle). I love sharing photos of amazing food and drinks – whether they’re made at the restaurant/bakery or not – but my favorite part of that account is coming up with the captions. Last week I received a few emails expressing a common love for food puns so I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you all today!
Unfortunately, I cannot take credit for every pun/caption. When I am not feeling creative or I need to find an idea, I turn to Pinterest. If you read this blog regularly, you won’t be surprised by that at all since I talk about it all the time, but I digress. You can find anything on that site, including food quotes and puns that can make your day just a little brighter. So without further ado, here are my ten favorite food puns and ten favorite food quotes because, why not?
Puns:
- You’re my butter half
- Romaine calm!
- Haters gonna hate. I don’t carrot all
- Pie like you berry much
- I don’t wanna sound cheesy, but we really gouda gether
- I love you from my head tomatoes
- You make miso happy
- I yam who I yam
- Muffin compares to you
- Words cannot espresso how much you bean to me
Foodie Quotes:
- Eating is a necessity but cooking is an art
- I just don’t want to look back and think, “I could have eaten that.”
- People who love to eat are always the best people
- The only thing I like better than talking about food is eating it
- There has never been a sadness that can’t be cured by breakfast food
- Everything in moderation, including moderation
- Baking is love made edible
- No matter how much I eat, there is always room for dessert. Dessert doesn’t go to the stomach. Dessert goes to the heart.
- Life is a combination of magic and pasta
- Happy as long as I’m not hungry
I know this post is kind of silly and not super useful but come on, it’s fun! Who doesn’t love a solid quote or a good cheesy pun?
Do you have a favorite? Is it on this list? Share it with me in the comments!

I wanted to create this blog for a few reasons. First and foremost, to share tips, tricks, and knowledge about the food and beverage industry in general but also to help people see a different side of the restaurant world. Every restaurant has a totally unique culture and world within it. I want to help open people’s eyes to more than how fast the service is or how easy or hard it is to secure a reservation.
So, thanks for stopping by! I welcome your ideas, input, and feedback and hope you enjoy!
Eat well & travel often,
Becky McKinney
