Event: Belgian Comparative Tasting

It’s about time we had a special event at M&D, don’t you think? If you subscribe to our newseltter, you know about our September 24th Belgian Comparative Tasting. Today, I thought I’d take some beglian beer tasting eventmore time to go over the event in detail. And before you ask me if I’ve mixed up the date, YES, we are holding this event on a Monday. Since the restaurant is not typically open on Monday’s, space will be limited and tickets must be purchased in advance so we can be sure to prep in full.

Menu Development: How and Why?

Most restaurants update their menu at least three or four times a year. Items are removed and new items added not only as a way to keep our regular’s experiencing new and exciting dishes but also in an effort to keep things aligned with the world around us. I actually get a lot of questions from readers, especially from those of you who subscribe to our newsletter, about WHY certain changes have been made and how these updates have come to be. Crab Cakes and the “No Filler” Mistake

I’m going to get up on my soap box for just a minute here because though you may think this is a strange topic, it’s one that drives me crazy. If you’ve gone out for seafood anytime in the last several years, you have probably seen a “no filler crab cake” on the menu. In a way, I get it. Less filler means more crab and more crab portrays a higher value dish. But … a pile of crab with no filler is NOT a crab cake.
