Cooking: A Labor of Love

The past weekend, I hosted my very first wellness retreat down in Bradenton Beach. I wanted to create a space where people could come together for a weekend of relaxation, sunshine, rest and of course, good eats. I was honored to host my dad at the retreat as well and partner with him to run a cooking class for the guests! 2019 Recipe Project: Mom’s Flank Steak Tacos

It’s funny because when I first started this project, I was certain that I’d be changing every single recipe. But if you’ve been following along for the last 9.5 months (WHOA), you may have noticed that many of them don’t require tweaking at all! Proud health coach over here. Anyway, this is one of those recipes. Tacos get a bad reputation – not in terms of how great they are, everybody loves tacos – but in terms of health. I’m always amazed at how many of my clients think that they need to give up their love of Taco Tuesday in order to lose weight or be healthy. Good news my friends, you don’t!

2019 Recipe Project: Asparagus Carbonara

I came across this page of my family cookbook at the PERFECT time because the baby I’m currently baking has been VERY into pasta lately. However, he has NOT been interested in red sauce of any kind so a carbonara is sheer perfection. I’ll include both the original AND the healthified recipe for this one because as much as I love the original, it ain’t healthy. Don’t let the fact that asparagus is included fool you. But don’t worry, BOTH versions are delicious!
